John John Florence has quit the tour for 2025 telling fans “I’ve decided to focus on surfing in a different way” and “the idea of creatively pushing my surfing as far as possible is really exciting.”
He also said the ocean is big and “there are so many different types of waves to explore.”
Medina, who is taking this year off after a pec injury, in the comments, said he’d join one of John’s trip.
Commenters expressed grave fears for WSL viewing figures in the wake of the news, one writing: “No Gabe, no John, no Kelly, no views.”
Another wrote: “Have you really thought this through man. You’re going to forsake surf ranch in Dubai to go explore the ocean and surf new waves.”
